FEATURED INDIE ARTIST: ALAN SEMERDJIAN - NYC
2010 is going to be a GREAT year for Alan Semerdjian! This multi-talented, New York native caught our attention with his video documentary/public art project for the song "Can't Wait". After showing it to family and friends, we all agreed that he was on to something HUGE! Alan, who is a singer, songwriter, poet, and educator, just released his second CD THE BIG BEAUTY,in Sept. 2009, and has been busy promoting it around the U.S. His new collection of songs "features an incredible bunch of musicians, friends, and special guests who come together to create a sweet kind of semipop indiefolk acoustic rock music".
In addition to being an amazing musician, Alan also just published a new collection of poetry, In the Architecture of Bone, released Oct. 2009. In it, he delves into his Armenian heritage and writes "a tribute to all of the people who suffered (the Armenian Genocide) because of their ethnicity and applauds the strength of those who continued in their traditions despite being cut off from their home lands" (K.T. January 2010 : SUPPORT FOR HAITI'S CHILDREN
DUE TO TRAGIC EVENTS, OUR CAUSE FOR JANUARY AND FEBRUARY WILL BE TO SUPPORT UNICEF'S EFFORTS TO CARE FOR CHILDREN WHO ARE VICTIMS OF THE DEVASTATING EARTHQUAKE IN HAITI ON JANUARY 12, 2010.
It is estimated that "40 percent of Haiti's population is made up of children under the age of 14...They are
more susceptible to infections, dehydration and shock." (Reuters, January 19, 2010).
It also has been estimated that there may be as many as 1 million unaccompanied or orphaned children, or children who lost 1 parent. "UNICEF has established a special tent camp for girls and boys separated from their parents in the Jan 12 quake, and who are in danger of falling prey to child traffickers and other abusers." (FoxNews.com, January 27, 2010)

At TWIST Biscotti Company, we are dedicated to providing our customers with fresh, high quality, gourmet products, using only the best ingredients. Although our business is but 1 year old, our passion for biscotti spans almost two decades. The idea for TBC was conceived by owner, Shannon McClure, years ago as a young girl in her great-grandmother's kichen.
"When I was a child, my great-grandmother, Louisa, frequently had almond biscotti on hand when we came to visit. Although it was tasty, as a child I always wondered why she never had any chocolate or vanilla biscotti? And why wasn't it smothered with all kinds of yummy toppings? From that day on I decided I was going to make biscotti with a twist - a sweeter, more dessert like cookie, that didn't need to be dunked in coffee and could stand alone"
Shannon started experimenting with her own, homemade biscotti recipes. Her aim: to make the most delicious, delectable, and divine biscotti that would satisfy even the sweetest of sweet-tooths.
On January 1, 2009, TWIST Biscotti Company was officially born. With headquarters in Burrillville, RI, TBC has shipped all over the United States, and aims to put RI on the map as "Home of the Country's Best Gourmet Biscotti" If you have not yet sampled our unique cookies, then you don't know what you are missing!
